168 bit Triple DES Encryption
Triple DES Encryption is an industry-standard method of encrypting secure communications that has been used widely in eCommerce applications, client-server applications, and even in the ATMs found at your bank or in your neighborhood. All chat communications with Gateway are secured using this encryption method and are therefore extremely secure.

In Triple DES encryption, all text is passed through three 56 bit keys. So, the chat text is passed through the first key, the subsequent "cipher-text", or encrypted text, is encrypted again and this cipher-text is then encrypted an additional time. Decrypting the text requires the person on the other end of the communication to have all three keys, in the proper order.
