DSL- Digital Subscriber Line
Broadband has two names these days. One is DSL, an acronym for digital subscriber line, and the other is the cable modem. What is broadband? It's a fast Internet connection into your home. It's faster than a 56k modem, and, depending on how close you are to the DSL office, faster than a T-1 line. It is a fraction of the cost of a T-1 line, although DSL is not exactly cheap technology to add to your home.
