Choosing a Receiver
The receiver is the brain (and brawn) of the home theater. Among the receiver's many duties are the following: decoding surround sound signals from DVDs and other sources, amplifying audio signals and sending them to the speakers, switching between different audio and video sources, adjusting audio volume and tones, tuning in radio broadcasts, and (most importantly) acting as the main "user interface" to the home theater.
