In fact they are the brain of every computer. Every digital video capture workstation has many processors in it, including the CPU or Central Processing Unit, the special 2D and 3D processors on the video display card, and special processors to deal exclusively with sound. There may also be a "bus-mastering" processor on a SCSI card, and specialized processors that process the actual digital video streams.
