Digital Hardware Requirements
Digital video takes a fast processor, or even, two fast processors, a large amount of memory, and a great deal of hard drive space. The hard drive space should probably be an array of striped hard drives. It may also require a specialized graphics card and a professional sound card. A large monitor is a good idea. Many users set their systems up to use two computer monitors plus a video/TV monitor. A system will require a hardware video capture card in almost all cases. This hardware must be optimized for video, kept cool by extra fans, and maintained to preserve its original performance.
