Setting Up a DHCP Server
The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is an application that simplifies the process of configuring the TCP/IP clients on a large fleet of workstations. Based on published Internet standards Microsoft provides a DHCP server with Windows 2000 Server products, and DHCP clients with all versions on Windows. Because it is a cross-platform solution you can also use the Microsoft DHCP Server with clients running other operating systems, and use Windows DHCP clients with other servers.
