Using AD Sites and Services
The Active Directory Sites and Services console is an MMC snap-in module that enables you to create and manage Active Directory sites. In Active Directory, a site is a well-connected group of computers ; that is, a group that share a high-speed, low-cost communications medium, such as a LAN. Sites are connected using relatively slow, expensive media, such as WAN links. The purpose of dividing the AD into sites is to control the replication traffic passing over the inter-site links.
