Downloading is performed in many different forms and called many different things. The user is downloading the entire time they are using the Internet. Downloading is the process of moving something from a remote computer to the client (a.k.a. your) computer. With that definition, reading e-mail, browsing the World Wide Web, downloading updates to anti-virus software are all the same type of action, which is downloading.
