Troubleshooting USB Readiness
Before you can do anything else with universal serial bus (USB) devices, you need to make certain you're set up properly to use USB. This requires the right operating system, the presence of USB ports on your system (built in or added), and USB enabled in your PC's BIOS. Once you're set there, USB is a breeze: plug it in while your PC is on and Windows is loaded and remove the device the same way. Even share it with other machines without extra hardware needed.
