Connecting to an On-line Service
Over the past five years the Internet has largely replaced on-line services. However, these services still fill a special need in the info-tech community. An on-line service is a service such as CompuServe, Dow Jones or an electronic bulletin board service (BBS) such as Symantec BBS. Each service usually has its own set of procedures by which you identify yourself and log in. During a session your PC mimics or emulates the type of terminal that the service uses to communicate.
