Modifying the Table Design
You should plan out a database before you actually create it to avoid having to make too many changes to the design because changing the design can affect data currently stored in the table. However, you may need to change the design of a table for a number of reasons, such as needing a new field to store new information. Always keep in mind that the fewer number of changes the better.
