| Creating separate user profiles enables multiple users to have separate passwords and system settings making sharing a system more convenient. To enable user profiles, choose Start, Settings, Control Panel to open the Control Panel window. Click (double-click) the Passwords icon. Click the User Profiles tab in the Passwords Properties dialog box. Click the Users Can Customize... option button, choose User Profile Settings, click OK, and restart your system when prompted. |

| Reopen the Control Panel window if needed (Start, Settings, Control Panel). Click (double-click) the Users icon. (Note: If you don't initially see the Users icon, click the View All Control Panel Options link.) The User Settings dialog box opens. |

| Click the New User button. The Add User dialog box appears. (Note: If you skipped Step 1, you'll see this dialog box immediately after choosing the Users icon.) Review its introductory information, and then click Next. |

| Type a name or nickname for the new user in the User Name text box, and then click Next. The Enter New Password dialog box appears. |

| Make corresponding entries in the Password and Confirm Password text boxes, then click Next. (Note: If you don't want to include a password for the user, leave the text boxes blank before clicking Next.) The Personalized Items Settings dialog box appears. |

| Click to check the items to personalize for the new user in the Items area of the dialog box. Then, choose an option button to specify whether to Create Copies... of those items from the current Windows setup or Create New Items... for a fresh desktop start. Click Next. |

| Click the Finish button to have Windows copy or create the personalized items for the new user you've set up. The process may take a minute or two, then the User Settings dialog box reappears. |

| Back in the User Settings dialog box click the Close button. You can then choose File, Close or click the window Close (X) button to close the Control Panel window. |
