 | | To click the mouse, move the onscreen mouse pointer over the desired item (called pointing to an item). When the mouse pointer is in the proper position, it will appear as a tilting arrow or pointing hand. Then press and release the left mouse button once. By default in Windows Me, you click once to choose an icon on the desktop or an item in a My Computer window. | | | |

 | | To double-click, move the mouse pointer over the desired item, then press and release the left mouse button twice in succession. Double-clicking typically selects an item in an application; for example, double-clicking a word in the WordPad accessory selects the word. | | | |

 | | To right-click, position the mouse pointer over the desired item onscreen, then press and release the right mouse button. Right-clicking typically displays a shortcut menu or context menu with commands that apply to the item on which you right-clicked. For example, right-clicking the Windows Me desktop displays the shortcut menu with commands for altering the desktop, as shown here. | | | |

 | | To drag an onscreen item, point to it with the mouse, press and hold the left mouse button, drag the mouse until the item being dragged appears in the desired location, then release the mouse button. You often drag to move or copy items, as in a drag and drop operation. You also drag to draw and select items in some applets and applications. | |
