From the dawn of role-playing, "dungeon hacks" have always been a popular pastime. Without any complicated story to get in the way, characters were simply presented with a litany of critters to kill for fun and profit. Also known as "Monty Haul" type dungeons, every door led to a surprise containing experience-producing monsters or piles of cash and other goodies. Who needs a plot anyway? One of the most superficial role-playing games in recent years, Demise has a thin story line that simply encourages players to set forth and kill things. The limitless nature and frequency of character advancement encourages the use of multi-classed characters. At any given moment, one character is advancing in level or trying on a new piece of super armor.
