Once you've successfully added the software drivers for your joystick you'll need to calibrate the joystick. Calibrating the joystick is simply a way of telling your operating where center, up, down and side to side is on your controller.
  Step 2:  Calibrating the Controller

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel. Within Control Panel locate the Joysticks applet. This applet will allow you to calibrate the center and directions for your joystick.
  Step 3:  Testing the Controls

Within each game you play you will be able to change the settings for what each button does on the joystick. For example, in Quake you may want to use the trigger for fire action, while in Pac-Man the trigger is disabled.
  Step 4:  Creating Profiles

Some games allow different players to share the same joystick but act distinctly for them. Check out your software to see if multiple players can create their own profile for the joystick.
