  Step 1:  Getting Started

Open a Report
Position the controller in an easy to access location on your desktop. Leave the cable loose so that you can lean back with the controller and get comfy.
  Step 2:  Making the Connection

Open a Report
If you're using a serial connection, attach the controller to the serial port on the back of your computer. Your joystick controller may attach to a game card. Be sure to tighten down the screws so that the joystick doesn't come undone during play.
  Step 3:  Another Connection

Open a Report
If you are using USB connection, plug the connector into the USB port. If both ports are currently used you'll have to add a USB hub or connect through another USB device. For example, most USB keyboards include a USB connection on either side for the mouse and additional connections.
  Step 4:  Adding the Driver

Open a Report
Once you've made the connection for the joystick connector, you'll most likely have to add the driver for the device. Open Control Panel and then open the Add New Hardware Wizard to add the joystick. You may be required to reboot your computer after adding the driver depending on your operating system.
