  Step 1:  Notice the Tools

Open a Report
Near the bottom of your screen, there are several tools and indicators. These are (from left to right) Zoom Out, Zoom, Zoom In, Zoom Tool, Actual Size, Fit Page, Snapping (on/off), and Status Editor.
  Step 2:  Notice the Hints and Tips

Open a Report
When you click on the Zoom tool, you may get a window like this one. These hints and tips can be quite helpful when you are first learning the software.
  Step 3:  Display Guides, Rulers, and Gr

Open a Report
From the "View" menu, select "Layout Tools" and then "Guides" (to display guides), "Rulers" (to display rulers), or "Snapping Grid" (to display a grid to which objects will "jump" or "snap").
