Tutorial Home >Internet >Security >Norton Suite >Customizing Security Settings >Enable Java/ActiveX Assistant

  Step 1:  Start Internet Security

Open a Report
Double-click the Norton Internet Security icon located on the desktop or double-click the Norton Internet Security icon located in the system tray. You can also click the Start button, then Programs, then Norton Internet Security, then Norton Internet Security.
  Step 2:  Choose Security Submenu

Open a Report
On the left side of the screen are the menu items. Your two choices are Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus (if installed). Click the Internet Security menu and then the Security submenu.
  Step 3:  Custom Level

Open a Report
Click the Custom Level button and you'll be able to adjust several settings manually instead of just setting it with the slider bar. You can control the ActiveX, Java, and Personal Firewall settings.
  Step 4:  Medium Settings

Open a Report
Make sure that you choose the Medium level for both Java and ActiveX. This will cause the Java/ActiveX Assistant to activate whenever these accesses are attempted. This assistant will then allow you to either allow, block, or create a rule for that particular applet or control.
