| If the equation you want to edit is currently shrink-wrapped, you should unwrap it first. When you unwrap an equation, FrameMaker increases the size of the equation frame to make it easier for you to edit the equation. In your document, click the equation you want to unwrap. The selected item should display with handles (small squares) around the edge of its border. |

| In the top, right corner of the FrameMaker window, click the Equations Palette button. |

| Click the Equations button in the top, left corner of the Equations palette and then click the Unwrap Equation option. |

| If you want to remove part of the equation, click and drag your mouse to highlight that part of the equation. |

| With the part of the equation selected that you want to remove, click the Cut option on the Edit menu. Or, press CTRL+X. |

| If you want to replace part of the equation, click and drag your mouse to highlight that part of the equation. |

| Using the rest of the buttons in the Equations palette, pick one or more elements you want to replace the current element with. For example, you could click the Symbols button and then click an element in that set. |

| Click in the equation where you want to make an edit. |

| When you are done editing an equation, you should shrink-wrap it. When you shrink-wrap an equation, FrameMaker adjusts the equation frame to be just big enough to hold the equation you have defined; this prevents wasted space in your document. Click the Equations button in the top, left corner of the Equations palette and then click the Shrink-Wrap Equation option. |
