With a connection to the Internet established, load your Web browser and go to this address: http://download.microsoft.com/download/win98se/utility/1/w98/EN-US/pmtshoot.exe.
  Step 2:  Download PMTSHOOT

Open a Report
You'll be prompted to designate a name and download location for this file. Use its default name of PMTSHOOT.EXE and remember where you placed the file. Let the download (a fairly small file) begin.
  Step 3:  Run PMTSHOOT

Open a Report
Once the download is complete, type Open from the finished download screen to run the install. Or go to Windows Start, point to run, and in the Open dialog box, use Browse to locate the folder in which you downloaded the file. Select PMTSHOOT.EXE. Then click OK. This runs the power management troubleshooter utility's installation. You'll be prompted to restart the computer, after which PMTSHOOT will run automatically.
  Step 4:  Check Results

Open a Report
The PMTShoot utility will prompt you to try Suspend mode so it can test the machine for proper power management behavior. It's designed to make some minor adjustments to try to help the system run better. When you are done using it, follow on-screen instructions for removing PMTShoot from your system.
