  Step 1:  Verify Amber Light

Open a Report
The amber light on the Zip Drive will blink when you insert or remove a disk. It will also blink when you copy files to it, or from it. This is normal.
  Step 2:  Flashing Amber Light

Open a Report
If the amber light flashes constantly after the disk has been removed, this is not normal.
  Step 3:  Eject the Disk

Open a Report
Eject the disk from the drive it is not already removed, by pressing the eject button. Then reinsert the disk. Retry.
  Step 4:  Ensure Cable Connections

Open a Report
Shut down the computer by going to Start, choose Shut Down, and then click on Shut Down the System. Click OK. Turn the power off at the switch. If your drive is internal, remove the screws and cover from the case and verify that the data and power cables are connected properly. If the drive is external, make sure that the data and power are connected in the correct place on the computer. Retry.
  Step 5:  Try Another Disk

Open a Report
If the amber light continues to blink, try another disk in the drive. Sometimes a certain disk may be defective causing the drive to act strange.
  Step 6:  Contact the Manufacturer

Open a Report
If the amber light will not go off, contact IOMEGA for further information.
