| Consult the documentation both for your new CPU as well as your motherboard to make sure you didn't miss any steps in properly installing the new processor. Retrace your steps. |

| If you made any other changes to your system, including motherboard settings, set them back as they were before you installed the CPU, and retry the system. |

| Check the manufacturer's (motherboard and CPU) web site for any information related to your processor and its proper installation. Often, these sites will contain helpful tips for getting your new CPU working. |

| If you have another PC available with a compatible motherboard, try installing the CPU into the other PC. If it doesn't work there, the CPU may be bad. If the CPU does work in the other system but yours won't boot with it installed, see if you can try another CPU (including your former one) in your machine. If that one works, it may be an incompatibility between the new CPU and your motherboard/BIOS. If no other CPU works in your system, the problem may be with your motherboard. |
