Step 1:  Routing and Line Jump Styles

Open a Report
Left most on the toolbar is the Routing Style text box. Click the pop down menu arrowhead on its right to access the different connector line styles you can apply to the drawing. These options will vary depending on the type of drawing you have specified. Right of it is the Line Jump Style button. Click the pop down menu arrowhead on its right to access the different line jump styles. Line jumps occur where two connector lines cross each other.
  Step 2:  Routing Toggles

The next four buttons to the right are the routing style toggles. Which one of these four is active determines the way Visio routes connector lines through the drawing. Reroute Freely tells Visio to reroute lines as the program thinks best. Reroute as Needed tells the program to reroute a connector only when it has to. Reroute on Crossover tells Visio to reroute connectors only to avoid crossing another connector. Never Reroute lets Visio know to leave your connectors as you place them.
  Step 3:  Reroute Connector Command

When you want to route one (or more) connector differently than the rest on a drawing, select it then click the Reroute Connector button. This sets it and it alone as Reroute Freely. Then you can move the connector to whatever position you want.
Step 4:  Line Jumps and Drop Options

Open a Report
When you want lines to jump in different directions other than the preset, you can do this with the Add Line Jumps To button. Select the connector(s) then click the pop down menu arrowhead on the button's right to access the different line jump options available. Last on the right of the toolbar is the Move Other Shapes Away on Drop toggle. When this is on, as you drop a new shape on the page from the stencil Visio automatically moves any shapes under it out of the way.
