If you are not using paper specifically for laser printers your can do serious damage to your printer. Glossy paper is usually coated with a varnish and that's what give it that slick look and feel. There is coated paper for inkjets and laser printers and most can work in either; however, double-check your paper type to save yourself some grief.

If you have glossy paper for a laser printer you should be able to print on either side of the paper from your regular paper tray. However, the most common problem with glossy paper is that it contains some static electricity, especially during the winter or in low humidity climates. The static electricity causes the paper to stick together as the printer is trying to feed them from the manual feed. The easiest resolution is to print from the manual feed, one sheet at a time.

Open the manual feed, position the paper into feeder, adjust the paper guides, and print your document again. If you are printing multiple pages, when you choose File, Print, within your application, choose the option to use the manual feeder. Your print will allow you to insert one piece of the coated paper at a time without trying to pull sheets from the automatic paper tray.

If the glossy paper still refuses to print, you may try to clean the rollers the pull the sheets into the printer. Power down the printer and disconnect the power cord. Use a small amount of isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab to clean the rollers. Allow time for the alcohol to evaporate and try to print again.
