| Highlight the text that will serve as the link to the new document. This can be a heading, part of a paragraph, or any other text on your document. This text will serve as the only visible identification of your link. |

| You have two options, you can select a link to a local document, or one that will be in the same directory structure as the document you are currently working on, from the Select File dialog, or you can type in the name of the file you are linking to. To use the Select File dialog click the yellow folder icon to the right of the Link field in the Properties palette. Select the file you wish to use from the dialog and then click Select. This will link that file to your currently selected text. |

| If the document you are linking to is not located on the local directory structure and can therefore not be selected from the Select File dialog, you will have to type in its full address in the Link field. When typing in the name you will need to type in the full address such as: http://www.somecomputer.com/thisdocument.htm. |

| After either typing or selecting your linked file, you will end up with the same results. The text that you had highlighted to use as your link will look and work the same no matter which solution you chose. Your choice may have been decided strictly based upon destination either local or remote. |
