  Step 1:  Why?

Most web pages have e-mail addresses located on them somewhere. Usually it's to contact the person that created the page or the system administrator in case you have some kind of problem. The address is usually located in small print at the bottom of the page. There's software that's available that can go through web pages and search for these addresses. The people who use these collected e-mail addresses are spammers.
Step 2:  Don't Put an Address

The easiest way to protect yourself from spammers is to not put an e-mail address up on your site. The only problem is that then visitors won't know how to get in contact with you if they want more information.
Step 3:  Add HTML Code to Hide Address

When you're creating your web page, a language called HTML is used. There's certain code that is used to state that an e-mail address is being written to be displayed on the screen. This is accomplished by putting a "%20" in front of the address. The new HTML code will look like "Sample."
  Step 4:  Use Another Address

Use an address that you don't mind receiving spam on. When some spammers get your address, you can receive a lot of mail that you will just end up deleting without ever reading. If you use another address, you don't have to be as careful when you're going through your daily load of e-mail messages.
