  Step 1:  Create a Chat Room

Open a Report
Click start your own chat on the people connection menu. A menu opens.
  Step 2:  Pick a Type of Chat

Open a Report
To create a chat for others to join as well as your friends, click to create a member chat. To create a private chat with only your friends, click private chat. Click on member chat since we want to invite others in.
  Step 3:  Find a Category

Open a Report
AOL asks for a category for your chat room. I want to start a room in the places category. Double click the category to activate it.
  Step 4:  Make a Name for Your Chat

Open a Report
Type in a name for your chat room in the text box. Then click go chat.
  Step 5:  Invite Others to Your Chat

Open a Report
Notify your friends via instant messenger that your chat room is up and that they can now enter. Don't forget to tell them where it is. You can also wait for the public to enter if they find your room (or you) interesting.
