| How many times have you gotten pictures back only to discover that the plant in the background appears to be growing out of your mother's head, or the power lines you didn't notice really mar the shot? Fortunately, PhotoDeluxe enables you to quickly and easily rid your images of those eyesores. To do so, open the image you want to correct, click the Repair Photo button, and choose Remove Elements from the menu that appears. |

| In the Select tab, click the Smart Select button. |

| Click and move the mouse (don't keep pressing the mouse button) to select the object you want to remove; double-click to set the selection. (I've chosen to remove the lights in the background.) Then, click the Cover tab. |

| Click the Clone button. The Clone tool enables you to copy one area of your photo onto another, in effect painting with a copy of the photo. |

| Drag the cross-hair that appears in the middle of the image (the sampling point) to the area that you want to use to cover up the eyesore (I'm using the black area in the background). |

| Select a brush size from the Clone palette. |

| Click and drag over the selected area to cover it. (Note: If it's obvious that you've tried to cover a portion of your image up--that is, there's a distinct line or the lighting doesn't seem quite right-- try evening things out with the Smudge tool. To access this tool, open the Tools menu, choose Smudge, and have at it.) When you're finished, click the Done tab. |
