| You don't have to be in the Contacts view to find a contact. In fact, you may frequently want to open a Contact window without actually leaving the Inbox view, where you are working on new messages. Outlook includes a handy way to search for contacts that you can use in every view throughout the program. |

| The Find a Contact field is available from the toolbar in every view in Outlook. Using this field, you can enter a name and have Outlook find the appropriate contact without changing views. |

| To use the Find a Contact field, just type a name in the field. You can enter part of a name or the entire name-it's your choice. After you type the name, press the Enter key. |

| Outlook immediately searches for the name you typed. If it finds only one match, the program opens the appropriate Contact window. |

| In some cases, Outlook may find more than one match for the name you enter. In this example, I've entered a common name that will result in two or more matches with my list of contacts. |

| If there is more than one match, Outlook displays the Choose Contact dialog box. Look for the name you were trying to locate and double-click it. The Contact window for that individual opens. |

| After you search for a name in the Find a Contact field, the name is saved to the field in the form of a list box. Click the list box arrow and choose the name you want to find. The Contact window for that contact opens immediately. |
