  Step 1:  Use the Formatting Buttons

Open a Report
Select the text you want to format, or choose the formatting commands before typing in the text. To boldface, italicize, or underline text, click on the Formatting toolbar.
  Step 2:  Formatting is Applied

Depending on which buttons you select, the formatting is immediately applied to your selected text. In this example, all three formatting types are applied.
  Step 3:  Open the Font Dialog Box

If you want to see what the formatting will look like before you apply it, open the Format menu and choose Font.
  Step 4:  Select Bold, Italic, or Both

In the Font style list, choose Bold, Italic, or Bold Italic to boldface and/or italicize your text. To underline text, click the down arrow on the Underline list box to display the list of choices, and then click the desired underline style.
  Step 5:  Preview Your Selections

In the Preview area at the bottom of the dialog box, you can preview how your choices will affect the text.
  Step 6:  Exit the Dialog Box

When you've made your selections, choose OK to close the dialog box and apply the changes to the selected text.
  Step 7:  Use the Font Color Button

Open a Report
To quickly change the color of text, select the text and click the arrow next to the Font Color button on the Formatting toolbar. This displays a palette of colors from which you can choose.
  Step 8:  Select a Color

Click the color you want to use.
  Step 9:  The Color is Applied

The color is immediately applied to the selected text. Notice that the Font Color button now displays the last color you selected. It does this so you can reuse the color again elsewhere in your document with just a single click of a button.
