  Step 1:  Open the Customize Dialog Box

Open a Report
It's easier than ever to customize toolbars to suit your own needs in Word 2000. To customize a toolbar, open the View menu and select Toolbars, and then Customize.
  Step 2:  Display the Options Tab

Open a Report
From the Customize dialog box, select the Options tab to view several toolbar options. To show each of the default toolbars (Standard and Formatting) in full, click the Standard and Formatting toolbars share one row check box to deselect the option. Click Close to exit the dialog box.
  Step 3:  Quick Customize

Open a Report
To quickly customize which buttons appear on a particular toolbar, click the More Buttons button on the toolbar, and then click Add or Remove Buttons.
  Step 4:  Choose Which Buttons to Display

Open a Report
A list of buttons appears. Those with check marks next to them are currently turned on and are part of the toolbar. Those without check marks are not accessible from the toolbar. To turn a button on or off, select it in the list.
  Step 5:  Close the List

Open a Report
To exit the toolbar button list, press Esc or click anywhere outside the list.
