  Step 1:  Control Panel

Open a Report
From Windows Start, point to Settings and then to Control Panel.
  Step 2:  Windows Setup

From Control Panel, double-click on the Add/Remove Programs icon, then select the Windows Setup tab.
  Step 3:  Multimedia Install

Open a Report
Locate the listing labeled Multimedia, and double-click on it.
  Step 4:  Select Components

Open a Report
From the Multimedia window, click to check Audio Compression. Click OK and then click OK again.
