| Now you have a local home for the web page you're about to create, but you need a web home for it. In other words, you need an account on a host web server. Point your web browser to nickel-pages.hypermart.net/n-free.html to find a host. |

| Click "Free Web Space Providers" to go to the list of hosts. |

| Look at these descriptions for X-Tel and Tripod. Tripod, one of the better known names in the free web space world, uses popup ads on all member pages, a strike against them. X-Tel has instructions in English, but the equipment is located in Korea. This doesn't necessarily mean slow access. The CGI script and space difference may be of concern later. |

| As we click the X-Tel link, we see we've found a provider that was too good to be true. X-Tel isn't quite ready for us. When a provider link doesn't work, click "Back" to return to the Nickel Pages list, or close the new Browser window if a new window was opened. |

| We'll have to keep trying until we find a suitable provider. As a last resort we could use Tripod, but then anyone visiting our pages will have to look at a popup ad screen. In case Nickel Pages doesn't have a good enough selection, we could even look for another guide site. This description of Xoom looks promising. |

| Click the Xoom link. It's a complicated site. But there is a link marked "Build web pages" that takes you to www.xoom.com/webspace/ where you can see a full description of the service. It offers plenty of space, and FTP access, an important feature. Based on this, we'll choose Xoom and go on to the next tutorial, "Get your account." |
