  Step 1:  No Style

Open a Report
When you type any new text into PageMaker, it has no style applied to it. No Style will appear highlighted in the Style List.
  Step 2:  Body Text

Open a Report
When the Body Text Style is applied, the selected paragraph becomes indented, with a font size of 12 pts. The text is written in Times New Roman. These changes are made regardless of the size, font, or tab characteristics the paragraph had before you applied the Body Text Style.
  Step 3:  Caption

Open a Report
When the Caption Style is applied, the selected paragraph remains without an indent, but the font size changes to 10 pts. The text is written in Times New Roman, but appears italicized. These changes are made regardless of the size, font, or tab characteristics the paragraph had before you applied the Caption Style.
  Step 4:  Hanging Indent

Open a Report
When the Hanging Indent Style is applied, the selected paragraph has a hanging indent of a little more than .15 inches. The font size becomes 12 pts and the text is written in Times New Roman. These changes are made regardless of the size, font, or tab characteristics the paragraph had before you applied the Hanging Indent Style.
  Step 5:  Headline

Open a Report
When the Headline Style is applied, the selected paragraph remains without an indent, but the font size becomes 30 pts. The text is written in Times New Roman and is bold. These changes are made regardless of the size, font, or tab characteristics the paragraph had before you applied the Headline Style.
  Step 6:  Subhead 1

Open a Report
When the Subhead 1 Style is applied, the selected paragraph remains without an indent, but the font size becomes 18 pts. The text is written in Times New Roman and is bold. These changes are made regardless of the size, font, or tab characteristics the paragraph had before you applied the Subhead 1 Style.
  Step 7:  Subhead 2

Open a Report
When the Subhead 2 Style is applied, the selected paragraph remains without an indent, but the font size becomes 12 pts. The text is written in Times New Roman and is bold. These changes are made regardless of the size, font, or tab characteristics the paragraph had before you applied the Subhead 2 Style.
