  Step 1:  Introduction

Open a Report
Upon installing RAM, you may notice that the total amount of memory reported by your computer does not correspond to the amount of memory actually installed on your computer. A significant difference may indicate a problem. Follow the steps in this tutorial to determine the amount of reported RAM versus the amount of RAM actually installed on your computer.
  Step 2:  Verify Amount Seen

Open a Report
It's important to verify the amount of RAM installed (meaning, you know you have 128 MB installed) vs. the amount seen by Windows for use. To check this, click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, and select the System icon.
  Step 3:  System Information

Open a Report
From Control Panel, double-click on the System icon. Choose the General tab. The amount of RAM Windows recognizes as installed is provided there.
  Step 4:  Restart the PC

Open a Report
From Windows Start, point to Shut down, then to Restart, and click OK.
  Step 5:  Check RAM Countup

Open a Report
As the PC boots, check the screen to see if a count of the installed memory is given (unless you specifically turned off this option, it should be there). Does it match the amount Windows reports installed? If there's a 1 MB difference, don't be concerned -- that's the amount of RAM taken by DOS. If there's a more significant difference, refer to the other "Not All Installed RAM Seen" tutorials.
