  Step 1:  Choose Host Unit

Open a Report
If you have a choice of two or more network units for your secondary data archive, you may want to choose the one that has the most available space on its hard drive, or the fastest or most reliable unit, or the one that is turned on most of the time.
  Step 2:  Choose Host Drive

Open a Report
If the network archive host unit has more than one local hard drive, compare the available disks. In general you want a fast and reliable drive, with plenty of extra space. You will create the file shares for your archive disk in the next tutorial, "Set up network secondary."
  Step 3:  Start Network Settings

Open a Report
Go to the computer that will act as the host for your archive secondary. From the control panel, start "Network." The local area network should already be working successfully, for file sharing to work properly.
  Step 4:  Enable File Sharing

Open a Report
Click "File and Print sharing" and make sure the file sharing box is checked. Click OK to confirm your choice.
  Step 5:  Set Access Method

Open a Report
Click the "Access Control" tab and select share-level access. Click OK to save your new network configuration. If asked, confirm that you want to restart the computer.
