  Step 1:  Saving Files

Save your work in progress continually. The work you do is done in stages -- minute changes -- but one machine crash or program failure can cause all of your work to disappear.
  Step 2:  Original Versus Copy

Open a Report
Never work on your original footage, always make a copy of it. Once again, one crash, your data is corrupted forever.
  Step 3:  Take Your Time

Take your time when editing digital media -- let the process work for you. Also, always check your final work to ensure that it is in sync with your original vision.
  Step 4:  Use Outside Resources

Gather people around you with good taste and guidance. These can be people in the multimedia industry, or people who just happen to have an ear for music. Let them see your work in progress and find out if it flows for them without your having to explain anything.
  Step 5:  Submit your work

Submitting your work for critiquing is the best way to learn if your work will appeal to the masses or disappoint. Don't be afraid to let any and everyone see your work – it's the only way to make it the best it can be.
