| Set your page margins so that only 6.5 inches of text can be displayed. In Microsoft Word, choose "File" from the Word menu and then select "Page Setup" from the resulting drop-down menu. Click the paper size tab and set your page width at 6.5 inches. Click "OK." |

| Open your resume with the modified page width. Select the entire resume and change the font style to "Courier" with a size of "12." If you are using Microsoft Word, you can change the font type and size directly from the toolbar. |

| Save your file as "Text Only with Line Breaks." If you are using Microsoft Word, select "File" from the Word menu and choose "Save as" from the resulting drop down menu. Use the "Save As Type" pull-down menu to choose "Text Only With Line Breaks," and click "OK." |

| Close your resume and re-open the file to view it in its new ASCII format. Remove any bullets or strange characters that may have been inserted as a result of saving the file as text only and then save the file again. |
