Step 1:  Combining & Subdividing Define

If you want to group several scenes together in your Album, you can use the Combining technique. If you want to break a clip down into several smaller segments, then use the Subdividing command.
Step 2:  Combining in the Album

Open a Report
Select several scenes in the Album either by Shift + Clicking or by dragging the mouse and highlighting a range. Right-click on one of the selected scenes and select Combine from the pull-down menu. You have just turned several scenes into one.
Step 3:  Subdividing in the Album

Select one scene that you would like to break up. Right-click on it and select Subdivide. A window pops up that lets you specify the increments (seconds per scene) by which you want to subdivide. Type in a number and you have just generated several clips. Remember, you can always highlight a clip or clips and apply Subdivide and Combine from the main menu by clicking the Album and selecting the procedure you want.
  Step 4:  Undoing Combining

If you want to undo the Combining of several scenes, just select the single clip and right-click on it – choose Detect Scenes by Video Content, and StudioDV will automatically generate the original set of clips based on the Combined one.
