| Clicking this button opens the Make Movie window. Here, you have four choices of how to make your movie – Video, AVI, MPEG and REAL. |

| The Video mode allows you to save your movie for DV video output – you have the option of directly outputting your movie to your DV cam or deck. We'll go over this feature in greater detail later on.

| AVI, or video for windows, is a type of compressed file that can be easily played on a PC. You have a variety of compression and settings to choose from in AVI mode. |

| MPEG is a type of high quality compression that can be used for CD, VHS, and Internet Bandwidth broadcast. The big drawback here is that StudioDV will not make an MPEG2 movie file! This means you can't get highest quality DVD/broadcast quality files – what a huge drawback to an otherwise powerful program. |

| Compressing your movie in the RealVideo format is a great bonus – you can create RealPlayer files that can be streamed very efficiently over the net. Real has become one of most popular audio/video apps on the net, and this is a good format to broadcast with.
We'll go over all of the settings for these different compression formats in a later tutorial.
