| E-mail marketing can be a highly effective way to generate leads and sales at a fraction of the cost of banner ads. If not done responsibly it is also a way to make enemies and tick off thousands of would be customers. The last thing a reputable company wants to do is send an advertisement to a company that did not request information. You'll be reported, cursed and flamed. |

| Purchase opt-in e-mail lists from reputable companies. If a company offers millions of addresses for very few dollars chances are it is not an opt-in list. |

| Opt-in means that every person on the list volunteered to receive commercial e-mail about certain topics. |

| Companies like PostMaster Direct at http://www.postmasterdirect.com and Web Promote http://webpromote.com/ sell opt-in mailing lists. Be sure to ask questions to guarantee you are renting a true opt-in list. How were the addresses obtained? Were participants given full disclosure on how their data would be used? Were users given a choice to sign-up? Are users given the opportunity to remove themselves from the list? |

| Why not swap with a related company that is not a direct competitor. |
