The Zip drive and Zip format are two entirely different things. The Zip format came first. It's a file format with the extension .zip, and has become the de-facto standard of compressed archives.

www.pkware.com will take you to the official PKZip website where PKZIP can be downloaded. PKWare is the inventor of the Zip format.
  Step 3:  WinZip

Open a Report
www.winzip.com is a Zip format licensee, offering a Windows version of the program.
  Step 4:  Other Explorer Enhancers

Open a Report
PKWare, Winzip and others such as Zip Magic from www.ontrack.com, give you control over zip archives through the Windows Explorer. Most Zip Managers are shareware programs - you can try before you buy.
