| A SCSI based tape drive may have issues that are similar to IDE or parallel tape drives. But, because they are SCSI based they have additional issues. |

| Termination is the biggest issue when it comes to dealing with a SCSI tape drive. The devices at either end of a SCSI chain must be terminated. |

| SCSI devices may be daisy chained (connected) together in chains of no more than eight devices. This includes the controller and seven devices. The controller and the last device in the chain must be terminated. Check you manufacturer's instructions for the proper way to terminate each device. |

| Each device in a SCSI chain must have a unique ID between 0 (zero) and 7. No two devices may have the same number. Check with the manufacturer for the proper way to set the ID numbers on your devices. |

| If any one of these items, the Device ID, Termination, or the length of the chain are wrong you will get errors. These errors will be different from those of the IDE or parallel tape drives. |
