 | | After the system crashes or you have a power outage, does the scanner "go crazy" and keep scanning back and forth even though you don't have the scanner software loaded? Locate the power button on the scanner (refer to the documentation, if necessary) and turn it off.
| | | |

 | | If no success with Step 1, press the Control-Alt-Delete keys on your keyboard once (twice reboots your computer) to bring up Task Manager. Make certain no scanner software is loaded and running. If it is, select it in the Task Manager list and click on the End Task button. | | | |

 | | If the scanner continues, turn it off again, and then unplug its power adapter from the wall socket or surge suppressor to which it is connected. Wait a moment, plug it back in, and then go to the next step. | | | |

 | | From Windows Start, point to Shutdown, and then to Restart. Click OK. As the system begins to shut down, turn the scanner back on (if it is currently off). When Windows reloads, the scanner should behave properly. If not, contact your scanner manufacturer. | |
