  Step 1:  Accessing the Display Applet

Open a Report
To modify your display settings, click start, settings, control panel. Open the display applet. This applet allows you to change all variables on your display.
  Step 2:  Setting the Color

Click the settings tab. From here you set the most important rules your display will follow for displaying your laptop. The colors drop down list provides the available colors your laptop's video is able to display.
  Step 3:  Setting the Screen Area

Open a Report
You can control how large the icons and windows are on your screen by changing the resolution of your screen. Slide the bar to the left for less screen area (larger icons) and to the right for more screen area (smaller icons).
  Step 4:  Advanced Settings

Open a Report
If you are connecting to an external monitor you may need to set the driver for the external monitor. Click the Advanced tab to choose more settings in regard to your external monitor, hardware acceleration, and color management profiles.
