  Step 1:  Accessing Start Menu Options

Open a Report
Click Start, Settings and then choose Taskbar & Start menu to begin customizing the Start Menu.
  Step 2:  Removing a Program Shortcut

Open a Report
Click the tab for the Start Menu Program. Click the Remove button.
  Step 3:  Locating the Icon

Open a Report
Browse through the Start Menu tree and select the icon or entire folder you want to remove from the Start Menu. Click Remove. Approve that you'd like to remove the folder or icon. Click close and then OK.
  Step 4:  Clearing the Documents

Open a Report
If you'd prefer to remove any recent documents that you've viewed from the Documents menu on the Start Menu, click the Clear button on the Start Menu Programs tab in Documents menu area. Choose OK when finished to exit.
