How do I disable the Windows Firewall for troubleshooting purposes?
Disabling the Windows Firewall on a specific connection should only be done for troubleshooting purposes. It is recommended to have a firewall enabled to protect the computer.
- From the Start menu, click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, click Security Center.
- In the Windows Security Center window, in the Manage Security Settings For area, click Windows Firewall.
- In the Windows Firewall window, click the Advanced tab, and then click to clear the connection that the firewall needs to be disabled on.
- Click OK.
- When finished troubleshooting, follow the steps above and then place a checkmark for the connection to re-enable the firewall.
