Q: How do I set up Media Center the first time?

A: Before beginning these steps verify the computer has Internet connectivity.

  1. From the Windows Vista™ default Start menu, click Windows Media Center.

  2. In the Welcome window, select Express setup, and then click OK.

  3. Media Center configures.

  4. In the Media Center window, click set up tv.

  5. In the Set Up Your TV Signal window, click Next.

  6. In the Confirm Your Region window, select Yes use this region to configure TV services, and then click Next.

  7. Media Center downloads up-to-date TV setup options.

  8. In the Automatic TV Signal Setup window, select Configure my TV signal automatically (Recommended), and then click Next.

  9. Media Center scans for TV signals.

  10. In the TV Signal Configuration Result window, select Yes, and then click Next.

  11. In the Set Up Your TV Program Guide window, click Next.

  12. In the Guide Privacy window, select Yes, and then click Next.

  13. In the Guide Terms of Service window, select I agree, and then click Next.

  14. In the Enter Your ZIP Code window, type the appropriate zip code, and then click Next.

  15. Media Center checks the Internet for TV providers in your zip code.

  16. In the Select TV Signal Provider window, select the appropriate provider, and then click Next.

  17. Media Center downloads Guide information for your provider from the Internet.

  18. In the Download TV Program Guide window, click Next.

  19. If a digital tuner is not detected, set up is complete.

    Note: Steps 20 and 21 only appear if a digital tuner is detected.

  20. In the Digital TV Antenna Signal Strength window, click Next.
