Q: How do I reinstall my Windows Anytime Upgrade if my hard drive was erased or reloaded while being serviced?

A: The original version of Windows Vista™ that came with the computer can be installed using the backup media provided. Once the original OS is on the hard drive you can install the upgrade. To launch the upgrade you must use your upgrade license file. The upgrade license file was provided in an e-mail when you originally purchased the upgrade ( Example e-mail ). If you do not have your upgrade license file you may get it from the digital locker on the Microsoft Web site using the steps below.

Note: Currently there is not a way to reload the upgraded operating system on a blank hard drive. The original operating system must be installed first.

Note: If you cannot locate your upgrade license file to launch the upgrade, you may need to contact Microsoft or purchase another upgrade.
