Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Removal Through System Restore in WinRE on Hard Drive

Service Pack 1 can be removed via System Restore in Windows Recovery Environment if the computer cannot boot into Windows after installation.

Note: It is possible that the SP1 restore point may be removed due to disk space very soon after SP1 is installed. If it is not present then the use of System Restore to return to a pre-SP1 state is not possible.

  1. Turn on the computer.

  2. After the Gateway® BIOS logo appears, repeatedly press the F8 key. The Advanced Boot Options menu opens.

  3. On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to select Repair Your Computer, and then press the ENTER key.
